About

Composer, Director, Musician and Sound Artist, born in Palermo in 1996.

Currently a PhD Student in Sound and Performance Studies, his field of interest are theatre, cinema and audiovisual, improvisation, acousmatic composition, performances, live electronics and music productions; he performed or developped his projects in numerous theaters, venues, international festivals and residencies (Montreux Jazz Festival, Societas Teatro Comandini, Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Compañía Nacional de Danza de España, Teatro Biondo Palermo, Danza Urbana, Tempo Reale, FARM Cultural Park and many others) often having the opportunity to produce new works. His research focuses on the relation between sound, words, body, space, image and the combination of traditional techniques and new technologies.

Also known as Pipya, he co-founded various musical project, such as Minus - Improvisation Collective and Nuhara.

After his studies in set design and visual arts in Palermo, he enrolled in 2015 at the G. B. Martini Conservatory in Bologna to attend a Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Music and a Master’s degree in Sound Design, both cum laude. From January 2026 he’s a PhD Student inside Bologna Conservatory.

As a teacher, he worked in academic and non-academic settings, masterclasses, courses and improvisation workshops for electronic and acoustic instrumentalists. As a researcher, he presented contributions inside university conferences. He curated the artistic direction for festival, events, talks and audiovisual projects related to music and performances (elettronica collettiva bologna, extraloud, else, palermo sound).

  • Currently a PhD Student for the Conservatory of Bologna, researching inside the field of sound performances, augmented instruments and sound theatre.

  • Graduated with a votation of 110/110 cum laude in Sound Design at G. B. Martini Conservatory, Bologna, 2023.

    Graduation thesis supervised by Francesco Giomi and Francesco Canavese in Improvisation Studies and New Tecnologies, based on the develpoment of the videogame TOTEM, a software for musical improvisation performances.

  • Graduated with a votation of 110/110 cum laude in Electronic Music at G. B. Martini Conservatory, Bologna, 2020.

    Graduation thesis supervised by Francesco Giomi and Lelio Camilleri in Electroacustic Composition and Analysis based on the narrative usage of spatialization in acousmatic music.

  • Diplomated in Visual Arts and Set Design for Theatre in the art Institute Eustachio Catalano, Palermo, in 2015.

  • Contribution as an independent researcher at the conference Inside the Blue Box on the director David Lynch, organized by the Department of Literature, november 2025.

    Title of the presentation: Sonic Reality as Extended Hallucination: Aesthetic-Narrative Aspects and Electroacoustic Music in Eraserhead.

  • Co-winner as collaborator (dramaturg, sound designer) of the dancer Veronica Parlagreco to develop the choreographic solo “Three Times” as part of the residencies produced by CND (Spanish National Dance Company).

    Residencias de Creaciòn allow choreographers and/or emerging companies to develop their choreographic projects using part of the CND’s facilities and rehearsal studios.

    The CND will select those projects whose characteristics best meet the most interesting criteria of innovation and artistic excellence.

  • Winner of the 25/26 residencies program to develop the performance Mykestesia.

    Bodyscape  is a project produced and organized by Danza Urbana ETS, with the support of:

  • Selected, together with Gianfranco Piazza, for the fifth edition of “UnArchive. Suoni e visioni” (AAMOD Foundation), a residency focused on the creative reuse of archival audiovisual materials, to develope a 20-minute audiovisual work integrating archival footage.

  • Selected International artist (under the alias Pipya) to be part of the 2024 residency program and autumn concerts promoted by Montreux Jazz Festival Artists Foundation.

  • Residency promoted by Centro Musica di Modena for live scoring of two archival films (The Adventures of Prince Achmed, L. Reiniger, andThe Lodge, A. Hitchcock) with Adele Altro (Any Other) and Karim Qqru (Zen Circus). Performed, among other festivals, at the National Cinema Museum in Turin, the Modena Philosophy Festival, and ConCorto FilmFest

  • First Production Prize for Sicilia Di Scena 2023 with the project “Astolfo 13”, a call announced by Teatro Biondo Stabile, in Palermo, to entirely produce a new work.

  • First prize as PIPYA in the Scouting Contest Music Is The Best 2022 announced by Panico Concerti to produce two albums and enter in the managment’s Roster.

  • First winner of the Alberto Dubito Prize in Milan for Spoken Poetry with Music, together with Giulio Musso for the project Astolfo 13. The prize included a reward and a collective publication by the book publisher Agenzia X.
